Out and about – VA England business
Out and about with VA England
This part of the blog will give you an idea of the meetings I have and where I go…
So far this month I haven’t been out and about so much. I’m cutting down the travel by 40% to make budget savings. It hasn’t stopped the work however. May has been spent developing agenda’s, having tele-conferences, seeking funding opportunities, developing proposals and writing papers for Liverpool and Northumberland; as well as a few hundred or so emails per day.
28th April – Voluntary Arts England Advisory Group meeting at BBC Radio Merseyside. Excellent presentation from Mick Ord Managing Editor. Agenda explored widening the membership of the group (applications invited), increasing diverse representation in the voluntary arts and the VA England work plan for 2009-10.
23rd April – BBC Radio Merseyside – Presentation on UP FOR ARTS – A Team to donors of the Community Foundation. Met Andy Burnham – Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport, and found his speech down to earth about giving everyone the chance to practice the arts.
20th April – Arts Council England, Great Peter Street. First bi-annual (Vis Arts and Music) Amateur Arts Forum meeting. Excellent start. Quote of the day “I arrived in pessimism but leave in optimism.” Now looking forward to developing the one with Alan Davey CEO of ACE and a variety of Umbrella Bodies.
17th April – Royal Shakespeare Company Assistant Director meeting to talk through the plans for the October devising weekend for the World Shakespeare Festival.
